Hello,

Thought I'd share this quick update on the 2013 Latin Fiesta St. Kitts and the 19th Annual Sport Fishing Fishing Tournament in Nevis with you. Please note that this is not a regular issue of the St. Kitts and Nevis Beach Buzz. The regular issue will be published at the end of the month. However, since these events will be happening before the next issue is published, I just wanted to ensure that I update you on these important St. Kitts and Nevis Events.

2013 Latin Fiesta St. Kitts Update

You may recall that in the Upcoming Events section of the last issue of my newsletter, I mentioned that the date set aside for the 4th Annual Latin Fiesta St. Kitts is October 27, 2013. Well, the calendar of events for the 2013 festival has been released, and it features a series of activities leading up to the annual extravaganza.

The activities leading up to this year's festival which is themed “Dominican Republic Edition", kick off with a Dominican Republic Movie presentation starting at 7:00 pm on Wednesday October 23rd at Caribbean Cinemas located at Buckley's Site. The film that will be presented is Quien Manda (Who's the Boss?), a 2013 Dominican Republic comedy film directed by Ronni Castillo. The film has been selected as the Dominican Republic entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards. The action will continue on Friday October 25th with the Latin Fiesta Downtown Warmup starting at 2:00 pm in Independence Square. Music for the event will be provided by DJ Don Jerry. There will be lots of giveaways and special prices on drinks. Then on Saturday October 26th, the eve of the festival, an event dubbed Havana Express and Friends featuring performances by Havana Express and Juan Castilla y su Grupo Tipico will be held at the St. Kitts Marriott starting at 8:00 pm.

Sunday October 27th will see the main event of 2013 Latin Fiesta St Kitts taking place at the St. Kitts Marriott Beach. The starting time is 1:00 pm. The activities for the main event include folklore presentations, dancing, displays of art and craft including displays from a Serigraph artist from Puerto Rico. Patrons at the festival will also have the opportunity to experience the Latin cuisine. A mojita bar will also be set up at the venue. The highlight of the Festival will feature entertainment by Joseph Fonseca from Puerto Rico and Allendi from the Dominican Republic.

General admission tickets for the Festival cost EC$25.00 and include US$10.00 in free slots play from the Royal Beach Casino and free top up compliments of LIME. VIP tickets which include access to reserved seating, a buffet lunch and US$25.00 in free slots play from the Royal Beach Casino cost EC$170.00. Tickets are available from Kajola Kristada at the CAP Southwell Industrial Site (869)466-1309 or (869)760-1981; Avalon Lab in Basseterre, St. Kitts (869)466-5558; or Avalon Lab Nevis (869)469-7520.

The event organizers promise that this year's Festival will be great, so if you are on island, be sure to check out the activities. If not, I gus you'll just have to wait for me to report back to you in an upcoming issue of the SKN Beach Buzz.
