MAJOR EXPANSION FOR RAWLINS PLANTATION INN
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, AUGUST 7TH 2005 (CUOPM) – One of the Federation’s most popular plantation inns is to undergo major expansion.
The decades old hotel/resort set on a 17th-century sugar cane plantation on the slopes of Mount Liamuiga, 15 miles from Basseterre, has recently changed hands to investors from the Caribbean and the United Kingdom.
“This would be a very tasteful and appropriately-sized low density expansion project, that will bring significant economic activity in the area where it is located just close to St. Paul’s village,” said Minister of State with responsibility for Tourism, Sen. the Hon. Richard “Ricky” Skerritt, who added that the project proposal was now before the Cabinet.
He said this project, which is close to the “Kittitian Heights” development “fits nicely into the mix of tourism products that we have in St. Kitts and Nevis and will be of a high quality standard.”
Minister Skerritt gave no further details.
